"I'm not a lady,
I'm a land mine."
I'm a land mine."
She still wasn't used to it. The way the sun felt against her skin. She was pale, but not so much so to be considered a Fiend. Nor did she carry their sometimes odd tinted skin tone. On the bonus, the sun was gradually warming her own color the more she stayed outside in it. It also forced her to lift a single hand to shade her eyes from the brightness as they adjusted. She had just stepped out of the large metal doors. The same doors that once kept them trapped inside- or to protect them. It just depended on how one looked at it. Sometimes Ace even doubted that they needed to be shut for so long. What if the world had been fine a long time ago? She squinted between the gaps of her fingers before she let her hand fall back to her side. Her gaze swept the open farm lands before her. Only a few shacks were scattered about. The plot of land that went to each wasn't very big since the 'safe zone' wasn't all that expanded yet.
Regardless, she had her duties to do. This time she wasn't trying to get herself killed out in the unknown. Today she stuck close by. One of the chefs had asked her to fetch whatever she could find in the fields. She grumbled beneath her breath. She figured she would have better luck in the wild than here. What has her little scavenger self succumbed to doing just for the sake of an extra portion the following meal? She scoffed to herself and lifted one of the many grass baskets that lay to the side. But it is not to the center she goes, instead her legs wander to the edge. The fog forest wasn't too far ahead. She stopped to take another peak around. Perhaps she could slip off and back unnoticed?
